Policy

The policy work group is committed to reflecting the diversity of the LGBT community and working to reduce disparities among LGBT populations.

Responsible for Coalition efforts to increase LGBT participation in the formation of public and private sector policy regarding health and related issues.

Goals

To increase the number of federal surveys that include measures of LGBT status
To increase the number of federal funding opportunities that are inclusive of LGBT populations
To promote civil rights legislation and health legislation that promotes good health for LGBT communities
To support LGBT friendly leadership within DHHS and throughout the Executive Branch
To respond to other pressing policy issues as needed
Weigh in on federal budget, line items with big impact on LGBT health funding, including HIV/AIDS (ST), Breast cancer (LT), Community health centers (ST) and OWH/OMH (LT)
