Policy
• The policy work group is committed to reflecting the diversity of the LGBT community and working to reduce disparities among LGBT populations.
• Responsible for Coalition efforts to increase LGBT participation in the formation of public and private sector policy regarding health and related issues.
Goals
• To increase the number of federal surveys that include measures of LGBT status
• To increase the number of federal funding opportunities that are inclusive of LGBT populations
• To promote civil rights legislation and health legislation that promotes good health for LGBT communities
• To support LGBT friendly leadership within DHHS and throughout the Executive Branch
• To respond to other pressing policy issues as needed
• Weigh in on federal budget, line items with big impact on LGBT health funding, including HIV/AIDS (ST), Breast cancer (LT), Community health centers (ST) and OWH/OMH (LT)
