Welcome to National LGBT Health Awareness Week 2009 Online

The 7th Annual National LGBT Health Awareness Week runs from March 8th to 14th. This web site is a resource for organizations and individuals to promote lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) health and to improve their own health.

This year the theme of LGBT Health Awareness Week is Expect More. This is a call to the LGBT community to expect more from their healthcare providers, policy makers, their community and themselves. We need to educate ourselves and the LGBT community about our unique health needs and what resources are available to meet those needs. With this knowledge and through advocating for improved health and healthcare, we can increase healthy living among LGBT people, because everyone deserves good health!

To help accomplish this, we have provided many resources. You can learn more about specific health issues relevant to the LGBT community, download and print out fact sheets, find events to attend and see ideas of simple ways individuals and organizations can get involved.

Thanks for helping promote LGBT health!
